Usually takes me three or four swipe/highlights before "reply" button appears. Seems to be direction sensitive but sometimes i have to swipe L to R other times R to L. Maybe some bit gets set and has to be toggled ?

"Highlight to reply is intermittent" is a phrase commonly used in the context of online communication platforms, such as messaging apps or social media. It refers to the feature that allows users to select and highlight a specific part of a message and then reply to it directly.
The "Highlight to reply" feature works by allowing users to select a specific part of a message, which is then highlighted for easier visibility. This highlighted section is then used as the basis for the user's reply, making it easier to reference and continue the conversation.
"Highlight to reply" may be intermittent due to technical issues, such as server problems or software glitches. It could also be due to user error, where the selection and highlighting process is not done correctly. In some cases, it may also be a deliberate choice made by the messaging platform to prevent clutter in conversations.
It depends on the messaging platform you are using. Some platforms may allow you to disable the "Highlight to reply" feature in their settings, while others may not have this option. If you are unable to find a way to disable it, you can try contacting the platform's customer support for assistance.
No, "Highlight to reply" is not available on all messaging platforms. It is a relatively new feature and may not be supported by all platforms. It is best to check with the specific platform you are using to see if they offer this feature.
