In summary, the person has a problem with concentrating and has been having migraines recently. They are also having problems with their sleep and diet. They are considering seeing a neurologist.

Hey all

I was wondering if you could help me in a awkard situation. I have an extreme problem in concentrating on one task. This normally comes in the form of not being able to hand in any homeworks in time, slacking in revision for tests etc.

At first, i thought this was just a product of incredible laziness of me and will pass away, but more recently, I've noticed no matter how hard i work (note: 10 hours) i just can't seem to get any work done.

The recent migraines haven't helped much either, resulting in stress and extreme frustration.

Can anybody help me out here?

Migraines can definitely discombobulate a person, even between episodes.

Let me first ask if you have seen a doc about them?

Yeah i have. I actually talked about it couple of posts ago on this forum. But this now-apparent laziness has been reoccuring for years now.

OK, I did a search and found your migraine thread.

ADD, as noted by Hitssquad, is a prime suspect. I'd do some looking into that just to familiarize yourself with what it's about.

You said in the other thread that you didn't have a CT or MRI. I would see a neurologists about getting those before proceeding. Also an EEG.

Didn't read the other thread. And I'm not a medical doctor.

Are you getting enough sleep every night? 10 hours of study (per day?) sounds way excessive. 4 hours would be impresssive, if done daily, 10 hours is ... way a lot (too much?)

Second question: Nutrition? If you're living on cigarettes and coffee with the occasional Big Mac (a wild guess), you might consider a more balanced diet. I was surprised that vitamin B complex in grad school made a huge difference to my mental state - though more recently vitamin B seems to bring on headaches. So look at your nitritional status.

I thought this thread had a physics problem with a huge amount of superfluous "distractor" information.
