In summary, colleges are aware of the classes students take and their grades during their senior year, even if the school year is not yet over. Students must report their AP exam scores to the college they plan to attend, and the college may also request an updated transcript after graduation.

I see people say they get 5's on their AP classes their senior year. The exam for the class is at the end of the year and you apply for college in the fall. How do colleges know what you take your senior year and what you got, if the school year isn't over. Do they just ignore the last semester?

I accidently posted this in the wrong section, meant to put it in Academic and Career Guidance. Sorry.

you report your scores to the school you have chosen to attend.

i also believe that the school will ask to see an updated transcript after you have graduated.

I can provide an explanation for how colleges know your senior year AP results. Colleges have access to your high school transcript which includes all of your completed courses and grades. This includes any AP courses you took during your senior year. Additionally, many high schools have systems in place where they can send official transcripts directly to colleges, providing them with up-to-date information on your courses and grades, including your AP results.

Furthermore, the College Board, which administers AP exams, also has a system in place where they can send your AP scores directly to the colleges you designated during the exam registration process. This way, colleges can receive your AP results even before the school year is over.

In summary, colleges have access to your complete high school record, including your senior year courses and AP results. They also have systems in place to receive your updated information in a timely manner. Therefore, they do not ignore your last semester and take your senior year AP results into consideration during the college application process.
