Hi I am new to this site, I'm currently studying my Engineering Foundation degree and I am massively struggling on the theory side to pulley tensions. Please could anybody point me to some sites or some information which would help me understand and answer this question in detail.

I have not used the template for posting this assignment as I have no details on my attempt at the question, sorry in advance.

Additionally, there are a lot of potential helpers here who are physicists and not pulley specialists. Fortunately, even a non-specialist can mobilize a lot of knowledge in dealing with pulleys: there are simple mechanics principles at work.
In your curriculum you must have something available to study from, right ? (Lecture notes, a textbook) And material from the prerequisite courses (mechanics, I would guess).
I could go googling around to ans
wer your question, but your own skills in doing so probably surpass mnine by far.
On the other hand, the exercise you post doesn't involve much specialized stuff: simple mechanics of forces, friction and angular motion should be sufficient -- but assistance with the exercise is not what you are asking, I think.

So I pass. Anyone else, perhaps ?
