How Do You Add Equations in This Crazy Lab?

  • Thread starter SS2006
  • Start date
In summary, the conversation discusses the task of adding two equations together, similar to adding math equations. One person asks for clarification on the process, while the other person provides an example of adding two equations together. The equations given are for two different reactions: decomposition and dissociation. However, it is mentioned that adding these two equations together does not make sense. The exact wording of the question is also requested.

this crazy lab is askign me to add 2 equations (the same way you add math equations it says)

so

H + OH ----> H20 + NA + CL ----> NACL = ??

first time I've seen this

Not sure about the "adding" part, but this makes sense:

H+ + Cl- + Na+ + OH- --> H2O + NaCl

You can't have plain Cl, must be Cl2.

To add equations you add left sides and right sides separately.

What are the equations you have to add?

thanks borke, seems you nkow what your saying lol
ill give you them, ca you add them so i seew hat you mean.
thanks

reaction 1:
NaOh ---> Na+ + OH- + 4.184 kJ

+

reaction 2:
NaOH + Hcl ---> H20 + NaCl + 5.25 kJ

first reacions a decomposition one.

anyways, id appreciate ifyou can do that then
thx

First reaction is dissociation, not decomposition.

However, adding these two doesn't make sense, as these are apples and pears.

What is exact wording of the question?

FAQ: How Do You Add Equations in This Crazy Lab?

How do you add equations with different variables?

When adding equations with different variables, you first need to make sure that the variables on both sides of the equal sign are the same. If they are not, you can use algebraic manipulation to rearrange the equations so that the variables match. Once the variables match, you can simply add the coefficients of the variables on each side of the equal sign to find the solution.

Is there a specific order in which you should add equations?

When adding equations, there is no specific order in which you should add them. You can add equations in any order as long as you keep track of the terms and coefficients correctly. However, it is usually easier to add equations that have the same variables first, and then add the remaining equations.

Can you add more than two equations at a time?

Yes, you can add more than two equations at a time. In fact, when solving systems of equations, it is common to add multiple equations in order to eliminate variables and find the solution. Just make sure to keep track of all the terms and coefficients correctly when adding multiple equations.

What happens if the equations have different numbers on one side of the equal sign?

If the equations have different numbers on one side of the equal sign, you can still add them together. This is known as combining like terms. First, combine the numbers on one side of the equal sign by adding or subtracting them. Then, add or subtract the variables on both sides of the equal sign as usual.

Do you add equations the same way as you add numbers?

No, adding equations is not the same as adding numbers. When adding numbers, you simply add them together to find the sum. However, when adding equations, you need to pay attention to the variables and coefficients on both sides of the equal sign. Make sure to combine like terms and keep track of the signs in order to find the correct solution.
