How Many Frames Are Needed to Show a 2 Hour Motion Picture on 35 cm Film?

In summary, the question asks for the total number of frames needed to show a 2-hour long motion picture, given that 24 frames go by in 1 second and the height of the film's frame is 35 cm. The question also notes that 35 cm seems quite large for a frame and mentions the common use of 35 mm film for motion pictures.

Homework Statement

The height of motion picture film's frame is 35 cm.If 24 frame go by 1 sec calculate the total number of frames required to show ia 2h long motion picture.

Homework Equations

simple Equation which I don't need to write here I guess

The Attempt at a Solution

The Height of motion picture is 35 cm which is the confusing part for me.1 sec 24 frame goes mean 1 hour 24x3600 frame goes in 2 hour 2x24x3600.Is that true ?? .Is the height in there just a extra ?*

I am not sure you included the full question. The total number of what? 35cm seems quite large for a frame?
You calculated the number of frames in 2 hours. 2*24*3600 frames. Is that what the question is asking for, or is it asking for the length of film on a reel?

Most motion pictures were shot on 35 mm film. A few blockbuster films also got copied to 70 mm film, both of which formats are considerably smaller than 35 cm filum.

It would take a crane to lift a can of 35 cm movie filum.

FAQ: How Many Frames Are Needed to Show a 2 Hour Motion Picture on 35 cm Film?

How do you calculate the number of film frames in a movie?

To calculate the number of film frames in a movie, you will need to know the frame rate (the number of frames shown per second) and the total length of the movie in seconds. Then, you can multiply the frame rate by the length of the movie in seconds to get the total number of frames.

What is the standard frame rate for movies?

The standard frame rate for movies is typically 24 frames per second. However, some movies may use a higher frame rate, such as 30 frames per second, for a smoother and more realistic look.

How many frames are typically used in a feature-length film?

A feature-length film, which is typically around 2 hours long, will have approximately 172,800 frames (24 frames per second x 60 seconds per minute x 60 minutes per hour x 2 hours).

Can the number of film frames vary between different versions of the same movie?

Yes, the number of film frames can vary between different versions of the same movie. For example, a movie released in theaters may have a different number of frames than a DVD or streaming version due to differences in frame rates or edits made for different formats.

Is the number of frames in a movie important?

The number of frames in a movie is important in the technical aspects of filmmaking, such as editing and visual effects. However, it may not have a significant impact on the overall viewing experience for the average audience member.
