In summary, Spock, a stray cat, showed up at Ivan's house six years ago and has been living with them ever since. He is wild and doesn't like to be touched, but has gradually submitted to Ivan and become a regular part of the family.

How often does a Trekker get to say that??

Spock is a stray cat that we so named, who has been dropping in and eating our cat food for about six years. He disappeared for a long time and we thought he was dead. He showed up again, but this time he was starving and in terrible shape. So, of course, he decided to move in.

He likes to sit on the heater vent in the kitchen to warm his old bones, hence the now common phrase.

And just in time for the New Year! I think maybe he had planned his retirement home, years ago.

Not really. But we aren't going to watch him starve to death.

He has always been wild and would barely allow us to touch him. Now he just submits as if he's been our cat all along. If he would have stuck around from the start we would have taken care of him, but noooooooooooo, he only shows up with he's a mess and half starved to death.

Congrats on the rescue, Ivan! May he live long and prosper.

My newest neighbor (the dog-breeder) brought several barn-cats with her from her last place (suburban location). Unfortunately, she moved into an area with a healthy fisher population, and I suspect that's the reason why she hasn't seen any of them for a while. Her son installed a cat-door in a backyard utility-building so they could come and go. Unfortunately, fishers aren't too much bigger than cats and they can come and go, too. It's likely they opened a free buffet for my weasel-friends.

Oh, poor spock. He obviously seeks you out when he needs love. If he was born wild, it's hard to get that out of a cat. I had a cat that would only show up when half of his body had been torn up in a fight. I'd get him patched up and then he'd take off and come back when he was half dead again. One time I opened my front door and there he was sitting on my door mat with a very pregnant female next to him. He led her inside, stayed until the next morning when he saw that I was letting her stay and feeding her, then he took off again, leaving her with me. OMG! I was trying to remember his name, it was Spock! I kept thinking "powk", that was what Spawn called him.

People like us are like Superman, but we have the big S on our foreheads, and it doesn't stand for Super-.

I just saw the name. Too funny!

Oh yes, we could have fun.

She liked TNG, but TOS was too much for her. And the only scene with Kirk that she liked was his death scene in Star Trek Generations. I was lucky she didn't stand up and cheer when he died.
