If speculation were left to the experts, what would happen...?

Who would you consider to be an expert? Could an interment technician or carpenter be considered an expert? What would it be like if we only left speculation to the "experts" and who would those people be...?

Note: if this subject doesn't fit on this forum please feel free to move it to the appropriate spot. It "feels" philosophical to me.
