Hy everyone!

I want to include this two lines:
m,n
m+n=k

but only in the bottom of the sumatory. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance for the help!

\sum_{\substack{m,n\\m+n=k}}

[tex]\sum_{\substack{m,n\\m+n=k}}[/tex]

Awesome! Thank U very much!

Can I ask U something else? Do you know if I can include text in cursive? The sentence is

[tex] \textbf{L} (U) = f(x) [/tex]

where L (that should be in cursive) is a differential operator like
[tex]\frac{\partial}{\partial x}[/tex]

Thanks in advance again!

\mathcal L(U) = f(x)

[tex]\mathcal L(U) = f(x)[/tex]

We call this symbol - [itex]\sum[/itex] -- a summation, in English.

Thanks Mark! My language is Spanish! :)

Related to Including Lines in Summation - Is it Possible?

1. Can lines be included in summation?

Yes, lines can be included in summation. Summation is a mathematical operation that involves adding a series of numbers together. These numbers can include lines, as long as they can be represented as numerical values.

2. How are lines included in summation?

Lines can be included in summation by assigning numerical values to them. This can be done by using a scale or measurement system, such as inches or centimeters, to determine the length of the line. The numerical value of the line can then be added to the other numbers in the summation.

3. Is it common to include lines in summation?

It depends on the context and purpose of the summation. In certain fields, such as physics or engineering, lines may often be included in summation as they represent measurements or distances. In other fields, such as pure mathematics, lines may not be included as they do not have a numerical value.

4. Are there any limitations to including lines in summation?

There can be limitations when including lines in summation. For instance, if the lines have different units of measurement, they cannot be added together unless they are converted to a common unit. Additionally, lines that are not straight or have curves may require more complex mathematical calculations to determine their numerical values for summation.

5. Can lines be included in summation to represent non-numerical values?

No, lines are typically only included in summation when they can be represented as numerical values. This is because summation is a mathematical operation that involves adding numbers together, so non-numerical values cannot be included. However, lines can be used to represent non-numerical concepts or data in visual representations, such as graphs or diagrams.
