I'll be transferring to a school offering civil engineering after the years of trying out different majors, I think I'm finally going after what was meant for me. Excited yet disappointed that the degree isn't exactly civil engineering but civil engineering technology. I've researched what differences this would lead me to and discovered that while I can still become a PE or take the PE exam, I might have to have worked a few more years than others with a regular CE degree. This all of course depends on the state, in a few years they might all not even allow for CET to take a PE exam.
It's disappointing that I might not have as many career advancement opportunities as regular CE majors.
While on the topic of PE exams, is it difficult to gain career advancements or salary increases without a PE license? Do a lot of CE's end up never really passing the exam and reaching professional status?
Thanks for your help.
