In summary, the conversation revolves around the holiday of Festivus, which is celebrated on the popular TV show Seinfeld. The speakers express their grievances with the lack of recognition and celebration of Festivus in mainstream society, particularly in comparison to other holidays such as Christmas. They also discuss a news story about a man who used his adherence to Festivus to get better meals in jail. The conversation ends with a humorous poem about Festivus.

Here is my grievance. It's the war on Festivus. The opening shots begin on Thanksgiving. Instead of Funny Festivus, they say Happy Thanksgiving, or even Happy Holidays. I realize that Thanksgiving isn't Festivus and Festivus is almost a month away. But if Kwanzaa gets 7 days and Hannukah gets 8, then shouldn't Festivus get more? For the following month, they celebrate the birth of Santa Claus and they play incessant Christmas carols, or Holiday carols as they now call them, but not a single Festivus round. You see a Christmas tree in every store, but never a Festivus pole. And today, the very day of the holiday, the stores have signs that say Season's Greetings, or if they have caved to the bully, Merry Christmas. They never wish you a Funny Festivus. Commercial establishements make no mention of Festivus. They act as if selling things was all that matters to them during this holy day. If I had my way, the stores would have to stay closed on Dec 25 so that they couldn't say Merry Christmas on that holiday either.

I learn something new all the time here. I never watched Seinfeld so I hadn't heard of this one. The miracle bit is so true with the religious people that I know. :-p

Festivus In Jail: Inmate Gets Kosher Meals Due To Festivus Belief

SANTA ANA, Calif. — A Festivus for the rest of us? A convicted drug dealer in California thinks so. He cited his adherence to the holiday celebrated on a famous episode of "Seinfeld" to get better meals at the Orange County jail.

Whereas if he got kosher meals because of mumbling to a sky-beard who regularly committed mass murder that would be OK with everyone?

It is rather ironic that you get better meals for professing a belief in magic than you do for professing a belief in food and nutrition science.

O Festivus, O Festivus,
Costanza's day, for the rest of us.

An aluminum pole, it's tinsel free,
And feats of strength, who can pin me?

O Festivus, O Festivus,
Costanza's day, for the rest of us.

No raining blows, for sake of a doll,
Just grievances, aired to you all.

O Festivus, O Festivus,
Costanza's day, for the rest of us!

If the aluminum pole is well-anchored, can there be dancing of scantily-clad girls? Pinning the head of the family (me) could be pretty well assured in that case.
