In summary, the conversation discusses the use of LaTeX for homework and communication with professors, as well as the difficulty of creating equations. The speaker mentions using Grapher on their Mac for LaTeX export, and inquires about a similar program for PC to use in a computer lab. They are looking for a program that allows for WYSIWYG editing of equations and exporting capabilities.

Hello. I use LaTeX a lot for homework and stuff like that. I also use it to email questions and stuff like that to proffessors. Anyway, i am pretty proficient at it and its syntax but sometimes it gets hard to make equations.

On my mac, i often use Grapher (a surprisingly powerful built in program) and i just write equations in there and it has a LaTeX export. Is there something similar for PC? When i am in the computer lab, it would be nice to have similar functionality. Basicically I am looking for a program that will allow me to use something like an equation editor in WYSIWYG type format and then export.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes, there are several Windows equivalents of Grapher that have LaTeX export capabilities. One popular option is GeoGebra, which is a free and open-source mathematics software that allows for the creation of mathematical diagrams and equations. It has a built-in LaTeX export feature that allows you to export equations in LaTeX format. Another option is Microsoft Mathematics, which is a free program that also has an equation editor and LaTeX export capabilities. Additionally, there are various online tools and plugins available, such as MathType and MathJax, that can be used for creating and exporting LaTeX equations on a Windows platform. Ultimately, it would be best to do some research and try out a few different options to find the one that best fits your needs and preferences.
