In summary, we should not learn to live.but we should live to learn. Girls/sex/community actions and all these show off's in front of people by wearing those fancy dresses and giving those big smiles should be stopped. Our duty in this world is to understand and develop it.

How can the human race continue to play a part in developing the world whilst abstaining from sex?

Who says you cannot learn from perusing love, sex and partaking in the community?

There are many ways of learning besides a career in science.

Why do you scorn an individual's ambition to set up, and manage, a little neighbourhood coffee shop as a way of living?

Especially those with an emphasis on girls, sex, showing off, fancy dress and big smiles.

EDIT: It amuses me to coincidently find that my 666th post concerns sex and coffee shops.

It is important to understand one cannot expect everyone around us to believe what we one believes. I for one utilise every opportunity to learn something. That does not mean others should also have the same ideology.

I think he means sexual perversion rather than intercourse.

You have quite a narrow view of the world. I used to think like that when I was a kid

If everybody lived to learn, who'd work on the factories? Who'd run businesses?

Your argument is so easily contradicted that I'm not going to say anything more about it. You have to understand that's an ideology you have, it's like a blind belief, it's nothing more than that. It's quite unscientific actually...

For the first 90% or more of the existence of our species, the concept of "living to learn" would have been dismissed out of hand as moronic, if anyone had had the time to indulge in such philosophical rambling. We as a species grew up (1) "learning" in order to SURVIVE and (2) eating meat (I know you didn't bring up the meat part, I'm throwing that in on my own) so trying to turn us into philosophical vegetarians is ... well, I can't think of any way to describe it that doesn't break the forum rules.

i'm sorry but i didn't mean the very same thing that was written above.
what i tried to tell you is that

"there is a specific group of people in the society who see things in more correct way than the others do"
(well that might not be the most correct way, but it is more correct)

they do understand that most of the things what the others do is just humiliating.and sometimes get angry about them whether how can they possibly waste time like that.
since they are never going to understand this, we will let them do politics/reproduction/farming/ and so other things and we will do our own things for the development of this world.
(well that is actually for our satisfaction)

i'm sorry for any grammar mistakes

I disagree, there is not one group of people in society that know more than any other, there are a huge variety of groups who know more than any other about specific fields. We do not live in a world of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosopher_king" society is highly specialised. Now you might be able to say that some people on average know more correct things than others but these people would not belong to one specific group and do not necessarily have anything in common (psychologically, socially etc) with each other.

they do understand that most of the things what the others do is just humiliating.and sometimes get angry about them whether how can they possibly waste time like that.

You are presuming that all intelligent people (who in your mind belong to just one group of society) have the same cultural ideas and personal desires. This is just plain wrong. I have met countless intelligent people from a variety of fields that do things that I think are a waste of time or are embarrassing behaviour, however I do not think that my opinion is gospel, I'm sure there are things I do that others would find the same of my behaviours.

As for your statement of "letting them do" that sounds very self-delusionary. People do what they can and when they have the means what they want. We do not live in a world with an academic aristocracy that let's the proletariat get on with the menial side of life. Politics is a vital faculty to society requiring highly intelligent action (in spite of how some politicians may seem). Reproduction is again vital and there is nothing menial or degrading about spending your time having sex and raising children. Farming is again vital as farmers keep the rest of us alive. Many people would envy the life of someone owning so much land and being able to live a peaceful life.

I think you need to re-examine your ideas and why you have them, you seem to have a streak of elitism and a poor view of those who engage in practices that you deem to be non-academic. Ask yourself if you can intelligently justify your opinions and see if what you think about those who engage in "humiliating" behaviours that are a "waste of time" and why you get angry are rational responses or not.

Why is it more to the betterment of the world (or less humiliating) to delve into bifurcation theory than raising cotton crops&children??

You're speaking like you consider yourself and scientists superior to other people.

It seems like there is a good psychological reason why you think like that, but it isn't rational.

To be human is to learn, to teach, to laugh, to cry, to live, to die, to love, to hate, to succeed, to fail, to cooperate, to compete, and to be who all of us are. Joe is a farmer. Sally is a doctor. Joe is promiscuous. Sally is intellectual. Together, they are human. Apart, they are individuals. We should not be any different than how we feel we should be. If you think the main goal in life is to learn, so be it. You have made society learn, not by telling us to do the same (because we don't want to), but by simply doing it yourself. Honor your and our free will and be who you want to be as it is right.

I cannot see any logical reason that you believe this. We are a social species. That will not change for a very very very long time, if ever. Politics, sex, entertainment, and similar things are integral to every society that exists in the world today. Even the hunter-gatherers in the rainforests or jungles have some form of the above. If you believe that all this is unnecessary and the only thing that matters is "development of this world", then I have to ask you, what is the point? If you can't enjoy what you do in life or what you are making for the future, then why do it? If YOU don't enjoy these, or if you think they are humiliating, then I think you may need to talk to someone about it.
