In summary, the conversation is about creating a wine glass in Graphmatica. The person has successfully created the glass but is having trouble moving the top of the glass on the y-axis. They have tried adding and subtracting values in the equation but the program is not responding. Eventually, they figure out the correct equation to move the top of the glass.

Hey i ned to make a wine glass in graphmatica

i got it all but the top of the glass is sitting on the x-axis still

x=2y^2+3.5 {3.5,6}

i got that and i just don't know (or forgot) how to move that graph up on the y-axis about 1 units

i tried adding 1.5y to the equation to make it look like
x=2y^2+1y+3.5 {3.5,6}

and subtracting

x=2y^2-1y+3.5 {3.5,6}

but the program wouldn't move or draw anymore

thank in advance for help offered

x=2(y-1)^2+3.5 {3.5,6}

for any people strrugling in the future

FAQ: Making a Wine Glass in Graphmatica: Solving the X-Axis Issue

How do I create a wine glass shape in Graphmatica?

To create a wine glass shape in Graphmatica, you will need to use a combination of equations and the trace feature. First, plot the equations for the top and bottom curves of the wine glass. Then, use the trace feature to connect the two curves with a straight line for the stem of the glass. Finally, use the fill feature to color in the shape.

Why is the x-axis not displaying properly when I make a wine glass in Graphmatica?

The x-axis may not display properly when creating a wine glass in Graphmatica because the equations used to create the curves may not intersect at exactly the same point. This can cause a small gap in the x-axis, which can be adjusted by using the zoom feature or by tweaking the equations slightly.

Can I adjust the shape and size of the wine glass in Graphmatica?

Yes, you can adjust the shape and size of the wine glass in Graphmatica by changing the equations used to create the curves. You can also use the zoom feature to adjust the overall size of the graph.

Is it possible to add a stem or base to the wine glass in Graphmatica?

Yes, it is possible to add a stem or base to the wine glass in Graphmatica by using additional equations and the trace feature. Simply plot the equations for the stem or base and connect them to the existing curves using the trace feature.

Can I save my wine glass graph in Graphmatica?

Yes, you can save your wine glass graph in Graphmatica by clicking on the "file" menu and selecting "save as." You can save it as an image file or as a Graphmatica file to make edits later on.
