I haven't spec'ed out motors before but I am looking to use a motor with the attached torque/speed characteristics. I am looking to use a gear with the following characteristics,
Gear Reduction Ratio: 20:1
Nominal Output Torque: 6Nm
Max Acceleration Output Torque: 9Nm
Nominal Input Speed: 4000 RPM
Max Input Speed: 5500 RPM
Efficiency at Nominal Torque: 98%
How would you go about telling how much torque is needed to turn the gear?
I was thinking it was something to do with the Nominal Input Speed...
For those of you who have spec'ed out gears and motors what, checks do you make to ensure the application works?
