It is why I have described in my essay on why one needs a clear strategy in college applications, and not to only aim for those "brand name" schools. This advice was relevant 20 years ago, and it is definitely relevant especially today.

I understand the importance of strategy and planning in any endeavor, including the college application process. The article highlights the current trend of the difficulties faced by high school students in gaining admission to top colleges in the US. This trend is not only relevant to Long Islanders, but to students across the country.

It is important for high school students to have a clear strategy in their college applications, rather than solely focusing on "brand name" schools. This advice holds true even more so today, as the competition for admission to top colleges continues to increase.

As the article mentions, it is crucial for students to have a well-rounded application that showcases their unique talents, experiences, and achievements. This is where strategic planning and guidance from mentors, teachers, and counselors can make a significant difference.

Additionally, the article touches on the importance of considering factors beyond a school's reputation, such as financial aid and the overall fit for the student. I believe that finding the right environment and resources for one's education is crucial for academic success.

In conclusion, I agree with the advice provided in the article and emphasize the importance of having a clear strategy and considering all factors in the college application process. With proper planning and guidance, high school students can navigate the college quest and find success in their academic pursuits.
