The way I understand it, it's not quite the real thing yet, but very interesting.

Optical Camouflage video on YouTube

There a short article http://transstudio.com/tm/2007/01/optical-camouflage.htm as well.

So, what do you think?

That's really cool! Kids of the future will be able to go out on Halloween dressed at floating heads!

I do notice that the traffic doesn't seem to have any problem seeing him.
Looks like some sort of chromakey setup.
Kinda cool though.

I just can't help imagining how cool it will be to one day go paintballing dressed in something that! It will be like hunting down "Predator"

FAQ: Optical Camouflage Video: What Do You Think?

What is optical camouflage video?

Optical camouflage video is a technology that uses cameras and projectors to create a camouflage effect on a surface, making it appear invisible or blend in with the surrounding environment. It works by capturing the image behind the surface and projecting it onto the front, creating an illusion of transparency.

How does optical camouflage video work?

Optical camouflage video works by using a camera to capture the image behind the surface and a projector to display the captured image on the front of the surface. This creates the illusion that the surface is transparent or blending in with the surroundings. The technology is based on the principle of light refraction and reflection.

What are the potential applications of optical camouflage video?

There are several potential applications of optical camouflage video, including military and defense purposes, such as hiding vehicles and buildings from enemy detection. It can also be used in the entertainment industry for special effects and in everyday life for privacy and security purposes.

What are the limitations of optical camouflage video?

One major limitation of optical camouflage video is its dependency on the surrounding environment. It works best in controlled environments with specific lighting conditions and may not be as effective in unpredictable or changing environments. Additionally, it is currently limited to flat surfaces and may not work on curved or irregular surfaces.

What advancements have been made in optical camouflage video technology?

Over the years, there have been advancements in optical camouflage video technology, including the use of more advanced cameras and projectors, as well as the development of flexible and wearable versions. There have also been efforts to make the technology more adaptable to different environments and surfaces. However, there is still ongoing research and development to improve the effectiveness and practicality of this technology.
