Did you clear browser cache and log out and back in?

Is it possible to clear the cache on a website-by-website basis? (Firefox on Win10) I don't think I want to wipe my whole browser cache if I can help it. Thanks.

I cleared my browser cache last night, logged on this morning, and it's still flaky.

Yeah I think so, but I use Chrome. I clear mine about once a week. You hardly notice any difference. I'm not talking about cookies or saved passwords etc, just the file cache.

  • #42
Okay, it looks like I can do it on a site-specific basis. Wish me luck...

Hmm, that seems to have helped. I logged out of PF, cleared the cookies and cache as above, logged back in and so far I'm not seeing the need to keep refreshing my FF browser to get the latest posts. Fingers crossed...

Clearing my local cache seems to have helped with Droid Firefox as well.

No, but I did just now, even though I don't see any problems. We'll see.

Done, I can read my alerts now but Cats and Dogs thread is not up to date so there could be others like that for me. I am on a tablet now but my desk top at work was more problem free.

Not a show stopper ATM so I will update if everything resolves.
Cheers

When I click on "introductory physics homework help" and several other topics it does not go anywhere. It goes back to the main page. It looks like the topics I am following most often behave like this. Other topics open their page. The ones I have not accessed in a long time.
I already erased the cache on the browser with no effect. I tried the app and it does the same.

I'm working a lot better today, I think with no issues. Did you try the procedure in posts #42-43?

Yes. I erased the cache and the cookies. It did not help.

It works if I open it in an incognito tab and sign in. I tried to sign off and in again in a normal tab but I can't find where to sign off. It looks like I am signed in for life. 😉

If you can see a USER menu at the top of the page, open it. It's just below your profile picture. If you're on mobile the USER menu may not be visible. For me it appears in landscape mode, but even in portrait it's there and clickable - just invisible. It's just to the left of the envelope icon for conversations.

I tried to upload a screenshot, but attach files doesn't seem to be working, at least not for me @Greg Bernhardt.

Ok, works this time. Just a glitch, apparently.

The unmarked square to the left of the envelope is where you need to tap.

Thank you. I found how to log off from the phone in normal mode.

Unfortunately it does not solve the problem for me. I can go to these topics (like introductory homework help) only on incognito mode.

I have just cleared the site data for PF, and logged in. I still find that some of the links on the main page don't work (e.g. Classical Physics and the link to this Feedback page). It just goes back to the main page.

In order to reach this page and post this message I had to use a trick that I sometimes use to get past cache problems : I appended a dummy query parameter to the url, like: https://www.physicsforums.com/forums/feedback-and-announcements.19?site=flaky

I had the same problem on the initial day and since clearing the cached files, it has been back to normal. Something on your PC or network is not clearing the files.

Did you clear only the site data or also the cached files? I think the cached files are more important.

After posting that, I tried clearing the browser cache as well. Still the same.

Ok, my bad... I just noticed the dropdown that lists "last hour" through to "all time" that controls the scope of deletion. I set it to "all time" and tried again... All OK now.

Good. Because you only had one solution left:
