I'm clearly missing something. What is it that you find impressive?

Good number of guests. Now they just need to log in, or if they haven't created an account -- make one, and use it often!

Ah. I hadn't realized it was typically a lot lower than 100; I would have guessed it to be about that on average and more sometimes but I didn't really count.

Most of them find some thread via google, look at it, and leave again.

These numbers are for the past 15 minutes. I can increase the number by increasing the time frame. Not long ago it was set to 10 minutes.

I see what dl is seeing, that the % of members online now compared to total members seems to be higher now than in the past. Although the total members is lower, the number of members logged in is higher.

FAQ: PF Stats: 93 Members, 2.727 Guests, 226 Robots Online

What do the numbers in "PF Stats: 93 Members, 2.727 Guests, 226 Robots Online" represent?

The numbers represent the current number of users on the PF (Physics Forums) website. "Members" refers to registered users, "Guests" refers to non-registered users who are currently browsing the site, and "Robots" refers to search engine bots or other automated programs that are accessing the site.

How are the numbers in "PF Stats: 93 Members, 2.727 Guests, 226 Robots Online" calculated?

The numbers are calculated in real time by the website's server. Whenever a user logs in or visits a page on the site, their status is updated and reflected in the stats.

Why are there more guests and robots online than members?

This could be due to a variety of reasons. Some guests may be new visitors who have not yet registered, while others may be former members who have not logged in. As for the robots, they are constantly crawling and indexing the site for search engines, so their numbers may fluctuate frequently.

Are the members, guests, and robots evenly distributed across the site?

It is difficult to determine the exact distribution of users across the site. Some sections and topics may be more popular than others, leading to more users being online in those areas. Additionally, some bots may be specifically programmed to only access certain parts of the site.

Can the numbers in "PF Stats: 93 Members, 2.727 Guests, 226 Robots Online" be manipulated or faked?

No, the numbers are generated by the website's server and cannot be manipulated by users. However, it is possible for some bots to be blocked or excluded from the stats, which may affect the accuracy of the numbers. Overall, the stats are a good representation of the current activity on the PF website.
