Define impact, define modern life. A lot depends on what you mean by these two.

its not that complicated..by the most impact i mean which of them has affected us the most..can be a negative or positive impact, and by modern life i mean life today, not in the past, not in the future.
like i said, there is no right answer as long as you can argue why you chose that order, but I am not asking for all that..just simply rank them.

how i ranked them:
1) Penicillin/Antibiotics
2) Birth control pill
3) GM Foods
4) Anesthesia
5) Coronary by-pass surgery
6) Human genome project

I would push birth control pill up and GM Foods down. I don't have hard numbers, but I think on the global scale GM crops are still only small part of the total. Birth control pill is responsible for putting old social system on its head, woman role in society was completely different 50 years ago than it is now.

I would rank these in the following order from most to least important/easy:

1. Penicillin/Antibiotics - The discovery and development of antibiotics has revolutionized modern medicine and saved countless lives by effectively treating bacterial infections.

2. Anesthesia - The use of anesthesia has allowed for pain-free surgeries and medical procedures, making them more accessible and safer for patients.

3. Human genome project - The mapping of the human genome has provided valuable insights into genetic diseases and has paved the way for personalized medicine.

4. Coronary by-pass surgery - This surgical procedure has greatly improved the survival rate for patients with coronary artery disease and has become a common and effective treatment.

5. Birth control pill - The development of the birth control pill has given women control over their reproductive health and has had a significant impact on social and economic issues.

6. GM Foods - While genetically modified foods have had some impact on modern agriculture and food production, their overall impact is still a topic of debate and their effects on human health and the environment are not fully understood.
