In summary, the engine horsepower and kilowatt output of a vehicle have a direct impact on its performance in terms of speed and acceleration. Different countries may use either horsepower or kilowatts as a unit of measurement, but they can be converted between each other. The relationship between engine horsepower and kilowatt output is that 1 horsepower is equal to 0.7457 kilowatts. Modifications can be made to increase a vehicle's horsepower and kilowatt output, but they may also affect its reliability and fuel efficiency. Other factors such as torque, weight, aerodynamics, and transmission type also play a role in determining a vehicle's performance.

Could anyone please inform me the relation between needed hp in engine in order to generate a certain amount of kw ?
Engine output/generator output
Thks. in advance.

1bhp = 0.7457kW.

And conversely 1 Kw=1.34 brake horse power (bhp)

so 25 Kw=about 33 horsepower.

The relationship between engine horsepower (HP) and kilowatt (kW) output is directly dependent on the efficiency of the engine. In general, one horsepower is equivalent to 0.746 kilowatts. This means that for every 1 horsepower of engine output, approximately 0.746 kilowatts of energy can be generated.

However, the actual amount of horsepower needed to generate a certain amount of kilowatts will vary depending on factors such as the type of engine, fuel efficiency, and load demand. For example, a diesel engine may require less horsepower to generate the same amount of kilowatts as a gasoline engine due to its higher efficiency.

Additionally, the efficiency of the generator also plays a role in the relationship between engine horsepower and kilowatt output. The generator's efficiency will determine how much of the engine's power is actually converted into usable electricity.

In summary, the relation between engine horsepower and kilowatt output is not a fixed ratio and can vary depending on various factors. It is important to consider the specific engine and generator used in order to accurately determine the required horsepower for a desired kilowatt output.

FAQ: Relation Between Engine HP & KW Output

How does engine horsepower and kilowatt output affect vehicle performance?

The engine horsepower and kilowatt output directly impact a vehicle's performance by determining its speed and acceleration capabilities. The higher the horsepower and kilowatt output, the faster and more powerful the vehicle will be.

Can a vehicle have different horsepower and kilowatt ratings?

Yes, a vehicle can have different horsepower and kilowatt ratings. Horsepower is a unit of measurement commonly used in the United States, while kilowatts are used in many other countries. However, they are both measurements of power and can be converted between each other.

3. What is the relationship between engine horsepower and kilowatt output?

The relationship between engine horsepower and kilowatt output is that one horsepower is equal to 0.7457 kilowatts. This means that a vehicle with 100 horsepower has approximately 75 kilowatts of power.

4. Can a vehicle's horsepower and kilowatt output be increased?

Yes, a vehicle's horsepower and kilowatt output can be increased through modifications such as tuning the engine, adding forced induction (e.g. turbo or supercharger), or upgrading engine components. However, it is important to note that these modifications may also have an impact on the vehicle's reliability and fuel efficiency.

5. Are there any other factors besides horsepower and kilowatt output that affect a vehicle's performance?

Yes, there are other factors that can affect a vehicle's performance, such as torque, weight, aerodynamics, and transmission type. These factors work together with horsepower and kilowatt output to determine a vehicle's overall performance.
