In summary, reviving a physics career and applying for a PhD program can be a competitive process. Some tips for a successful application include having a strong academic background, conducting research and publishing papers, obtaining relevant experience through internships or research assistantships, and obtaining strong letters of recommendation. Additionally, showcasing a passion for the field and a clear research focus can make an applicant stand out. It is also important to research and carefully choose the right program and advisor for individual interests and goals. Networking and attending conferences can also be beneficial in making connections and learning about potential opportunities. Overall, a well-rounded and competitive application requires dedication, hard work, and a clear understanding of one's strengths and goals.

How did you find PF?

Hello everyone :)So happy to be joining this group where I will be able to exchange with fellow physicists and be with like-minded people.
I graduated with a Masters in TP 5 years ago and moved on to work in IT and teaching instead of moving directly to a PhD.
Now, I kinda regret my choice, even if those experiences really confirmed me that I was born to be an academic...
Now that I have been out of the game for few years I am looking for some advices and guidance to excel in my comeback in academia and more specifically to create the most competitive phd application.
Looking forward to meeting you all :)
