Does anybody know how to make a basket that when you score it adds points to a display?
Interesting, but from what I saw, it looked like the sensors were placed on either side of the hoop-to-backboard bracket, about 12" apart. There was a long handle that came down that they used to take the sensors down at the end of their practice. (I should have walked over and looked at it more closely right then, but didn't think about it until later. Maybe I'll e-mail the question to the Shootaway folks to see if they'll answer. It may be some proprietary thing for them, though.dlgoff said:"...does indeed use some kind of sensor to detect when the ball goes through the hoop."
Maybe it's only sensing missed shots and calculating the made shots.
Hi Don, no, my son is in 7th grade. I went to a coach's clinic with these guys (excelinbasketball.com) two weekends ago because I know very little about basketball, and I'm an assistant coach on my son's team. I was super-impressed with these guys, and got to see their high school team practicing their weekend morning shots (1000 shots a day outside of their regular practices!). Watching them practice shooting with those machines was amazing. Those kids were hitting something like 80% or higher from various points around the 3-point line, shot after shot! There's a lot to be said for this technique of standing in one place and shooting repetitions without having to move at all.dlgoff said:Just curious. Do you have a high schooler kid?
A score-adding basket is a device used in sports, games, and other activities to keep track of points or scores. It typically consists of a container with a designated number of slots or compartments, each representing a specific value or point. As points are earned, they are placed in the corresponding slot, allowing players to easily keep track of their scores.
The materials needed to create a score-adding basket will vary depending on the design and size of the basket. However, some common materials include a container (such as a plastic bucket or wooden box), paper or cardstock for creating the scoring slots, markers or paint for labeling the slots, and scissors or a craft knife for cutting the slots.
To make a score-adding basket, you will first need to choose a container and determine the number of slots or compartments you want to have. Then, create the scoring slots on paper or cardstock and attach them to the container using glue or tape. Label each slot with the corresponding point value and make sure they are evenly spaced. You can also decorate the basket with paint or other materials if desired.
A score-adding basket can be used for a wide variety of games and activities, including but not limited to basketball, cornhole, bean bag toss, darts, and even educational games like math or spelling challenges. It can also be used in team building activities or as a visual aid for goal-setting and tracking progress.
While a score-adding basket is generally a safe and fun tool, there are a few precautions to keep in mind. Make sure to use appropriate materials and supervise children when creating the basket. Also, be aware of any sharp edges or potential hazards when using the basket during games or activities. Always follow the rules and guidelines of the particular game or activity being played to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all players.
