In summary, a natural number is a positive integer used for counting and ordering. Its existence can be proven through mathematical induction and there is no largest natural number. Decimals and fractions cannot be considered as natural numbers, and proving their existence is crucial for the foundation of mathematics.

Show there exist a natural number n...

1. Let {xn} be a sequence of reals which converges to x > 0. Show that there is a natural number n0 such that xn > 0 for all n >= n0 .

I tried this but cannot approach the answer.
Can anybody?

The sequence (xn) is said to converge to a real number
a.
if for all ε>0, there exists N in N such that |xn-a|<ε for all n≥N.

ok so how about picking a useful ε>0...

FAQ: Show there exist a natural number n

What is a natural number?

A natural number is a positive integer (whole number) that is used for counting and ordering. It starts from 1 and continues infinitely in the positive direction.

How can we prove the existence of a natural number?

The existence of a natural number can be proven using mathematical induction, where we assume that the statement is true for a base case and then prove that it holds for the next case. This process is repeated until we reach the desired natural number.

Is there a largest natural number?

No, there is no largest natural number. This is because natural numbers continue infinitely in the positive direction and there is always a number that is one greater than the current largest number.

Can we use decimals or fractions as natural numbers?

No, decimals and fractions cannot be considered as natural numbers. Natural numbers are always whole numbers and do not include any parts or fractions.

Why is it important to prove the existence of a natural number?

Proving the existence of a natural number is important because it helps to establish the foundation of mathematics and allows us to use natural numbers in various calculations and proofs.
