Sometimes I read about something of an Octopus, from Smolin. Something about trying to put the standard model in LQG. What's up with that Octopus?
Smolin's "Octopus" refers to a theory proposed by physicist Lee Smolin that attempts to explain the origins and structure of the universe. It is based on the idea that the universe is constantly evolving and that new universes are created through black holes.
The "Octopus" theory is unique in that it suggests that the universe is constantly evolving and that new universes are created through black holes, rather than the traditional idea of a single, static universe. It also incorporates principles from quantum mechanics and relativity in its explanation of the universe.
While the "Octopus" theory is still a relatively new and unproven concept, there is some evidence that supports its ideas. For example, studies of the cosmic microwave background radiation have shown anomalies that could potentially be explained by the creation of new universes through black holes.
The "Octopus" theory is a form of the multiverse theory, which suggests that there are multiple universes beyond our own. However, the "Octopus" theory is unique in that it proposes a mechanism for how these universes are created and how they interact with each other.
The "Octopus" theory is still a relatively new and unproven idea, so it is not widely accepted in the scientific community. However, it has sparked much discussion and debate among physicists and cosmologists, and further research and evidence may help to solidify its validity.
