Programs Software Development Degree vs CompSci Degree

AI Thread Summary
A degree in Software Development, such as a BS in Software Development, is generally viewed similarly to a BS in Computer Science by employers. There is no significant advantage of one over the other in terms of job opportunities. However, obtaining a Master's degree (MS) in either field can enhance employability due to the additional coursework. Additionally, pursuing a minor in business, math, engineering, or a science can further improve job prospects, particularly in specialized fields like healthcare, where knowledge of industry-specific terminology is beneficial. Overall, the choice of degree and additional qualifications can influence return on investment (ROI) and career opportunities.

I was thinking which degree would open more doors? Would employers look down on me for having a Software Dev degree? Which degree has a better roi?

What is a software developer degree?

I've heard of a BS in Software Development which to any employer similar to a BS in Computer Science.

I don't think either has an edge over the other. However, a BS vs MS in either discipline then the MS has more clout to an employer by virtue of having more coursework under your belt.

One other thing that can add to your qualifications is a minor in business, math, engineering or some science. This would help secure jobs in fields where employers need developers that understand the field terminology. As an example, having a biology or medical background makes you a better candidate for application software jobs in the medical field.

Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
