Speed of Dark: Beyond Light & Time

In summary, the conversation discusses the concept of the speed of "dark" and how it relates to the speed of light. It is explained that darkness is the absence of photons/electromagnetic waves, which do not have a speed as they are not physical objects. Therefore, the idea of the speed of dark is meaningless. It is compared to asking about the speed of silence or the speed of no traffic.

If light travels at 186,000 miles per second - and in theory nothing can travel faster. What would the speed of "dark" be? Dark occupies all space at the same time! It would seem to me anyway that "dark" would at some point catch up and pass light once the light source was extinguished.

Light is made of photons/electromagnetic waves they both travel at c. Darkness is the absence of photons/electromagnetic waves(This doesn't really happen in the universe ). There is nothing that travels so speed of dark is truly meaningless concept .

This is exactly like asking:
-what is the speed of silence is and why doesn't it overtake sound?
-what is the speed of no traffic and why doesn't it overtake traffic?
etc.

FAQ: Speed of Dark: Beyond Light & Time

What is the Speed of Dark?

The Speed of Dark refers to the rate at which darkness travels. It is often associated with the speed of light, which is the fastest speed at which anything in the universe can travel.

Is there a specific speed at which darkness travels?

No, darkness does not travel in the same way that light does. Darkness is the absence of light, and therefore does not have a specific speed. It is simply the absence of light particles.

Can darkness travel faster than the speed of light?

No, according to Einstein's theory of relativity, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. This includes darkness, which is simply the absence of light.

How does the Speed of Dark relate to time?

The Speed of Dark does not have a direct relation to time. However, darkness plays a role in our perception of time, as we use light and darkness to measure time passing.

Is there any scientific research on the Speed of Dark?

While there is ongoing research on the properties and behavior of darkness, there is no specific scientific research on the Speed of Dark. This is because darkness is not a tangible entity that can be measured in the same way as light or other physical objects.
