Searching arXiv using words like "AI", "ML" and "war", and doing a little creative paraphrasing (read: technobabbling) is a veritable goldmine for using the old trick of including "classified" papers in your text:

SYNOPSIS:

This paper explores the changes that human virtualization and augmentation is having on the nature of alien warfare. The goal is a complementary approach where virtualised augmented human experts [VAHE] and combat machines are blended. Combined with Machine Learning [ML] and basing our approach on the principles of compartmentalization combined with historical and modern examples, we show how AI-controlled autonomous weapons systems can be effectively managed by teams of semi-autonomous AIs working in conjunction with VAHEs. In this way we provide for a flexible and dynamic approach to managing combat systems. We conclude by presenting a path to achieving an integrated vision of machine-speed combat where the VAHE-supervized battlefield is operated in conjunction with AIs watching for patterns of behavior to assess the performance of enemy combat machinery. This approach enables the development of combat systems that are likely to be more efficient, operate at machine speed, and capable of responding to a broader range of dynamic battlefield conditions than any purely autonomous AI system.
