Tutorial Sticky Threads: Convenient Solutions

In summary, the conversation discussed the idea of creating specific tutorial threads for each subforum in the Science Education Zone. This was implemented to make tutorials more visible to students seeking help with homework questions. It also allowed for unlimited growth and the addition of lecturers' course material as tutorials. The physics tutorials have already been organized into their own subforums, but there are not yet enough tutorials to split them into categories for other subjects. The decision to move the tutorials out of sticky threads was to prevent clutter in other forums and ensure that the most important stickies were read.

Hey, I was just thinking that each of the subforums could have their own tutorial sticky thread. For example the 'calculus & analysis' fourms will have a 'calculus & analysus tutorials' thread etc. It would be really convenient.

In case you haven't seen it yet, we now have tutorials in the Science Education Zone. https://www.physicsforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=151 We put them there so they'd be more visible to the students visiting for homework questions, who we expect are most in need of tutorials. This moved them out of sticky threads, which had two benefits in our view: 1) unlimited growth while still retaining ease of finding the relevant topic, 2) Greg has been able to go out and find lecturers willing to make portions of their course material available as tutorials to add to the resources available to our members and visitors. Moving them out of sticky threads also helps keep the other forums uncluttered (we realized if there are too many stickies, nobody reads the most important ones).

We don't have enough tutorials yet in every subject to split them up into categories yet, but we already have organized the physics tutorials into their own subforums.

FAQ: Tutorial Sticky Threads: Convenient Solutions

What are tutorial sticky threads?

Tutorial sticky threads are threads on online forums or platforms that are "sticky," meaning they stay at the top of the forum or platform and do not get pushed down by newer threads. These threads typically contain helpful and informative tutorials on a specific topic.

Why are tutorial sticky threads convenient?

Tutorial sticky threads are convenient because they provide easy access to important information and solutions. They are always at the top of the forum or platform, making them easily visible and accessible without having to search through multiple threads.

How are tutorial sticky threads different from regular threads?

Regular threads on online forums or platforms are constantly pushed down by newer threads, making them more difficult to find and access. Tutorial sticky threads, on the other hand, stay at the top and are easily accessible, making them more convenient for users.

Who creates tutorial sticky threads?

Tutorial sticky threads are usually created by forum moderators or experienced users who want to provide helpful information and solutions to common problems or questions related to a specific topic.

How can I find tutorial sticky threads?

Tutorial sticky threads can usually be found at the top of the forum or platform, designated by a "sticky" label or icon. They may also be pinned or highlighted by different colors to make them stand out from regular threads.
