Uncovering the Mystery: 2D Creatures on Expanding Sphere

In summary, The conversation revolves around 2D creatures living on a sphere whose radius is increasing over time. These creatures are unaware of the fact that they are living on a spherical surface and instead believe they are on an expanding plane. The maximum speed of information for these creatures is the speed of light, and their lifespan is significantly smaller than the radius divided by the speed of light. The question at hand is how the creatures can discover that they are living on a sphere, with suggestions such as using the doppler effect. However, the small effect of the doppler equation and the dependence on the rate of change of the radius pose challenges in this discovery.

Some 2D creatures are living on a sphere that it radius in increasing over time. They think that they are living on a expanding plane. The max speed of information is speed of light. The life time of the creatures are very smaller that the radius divided by speed of light. How can they find out they are living on a sphere. I tried to use doppler effect but it couldn't

P.n. Sorry for my bad english!

I also wrote the doppler effect equations but the effect was very small that they couldn't notice.

And my problem depends on the amount of dR/dt

FAQ: Uncovering the Mystery: 2D Creatures on Expanding Sphere

What are 2D creatures on an expanding sphere?

2D creatures on an expanding sphere are hypothetical beings that exist in a 2-dimensional world on the surface of a sphere that is constantly expanding. This concept is often used in mathematics and theoretical physics to explore the properties of higher dimensions.

How do 2D creatures perceive their world on an expanding sphere?

2D creatures on an expanding sphere would perceive their world as a flat plane that is constantly growing in size. As the sphere expands, their world would appear to stretch and distort, potentially causing changes in their perception of space and time.

Can 2D creatures exist in our 3-dimensional world?

No, 2D creatures cannot exist in our 3-dimensional world. They are purely theoretical beings that only exist in mathematical and theoretical models. Our physical world has three dimensions, and it is not possible for a creature to exist in fewer dimensions than its environment.

What can studying 2D creatures on an expanding sphere teach us?

Studying 2D creatures on an expanding sphere can help us understand the properties of higher dimensions and how they may affect the laws of physics in our universe. It can also aid in the development of new mathematical concepts and theories.

Is it possible for us to observe 2D creatures on an expanding sphere?

No, it is not possible for us to observe 2D creatures on an expanding sphere. Since they exist in a higher dimension, we cannot interact with them or perceive them in any way. They can only be studied through mathematical and theoretical models.
