Hi,

I don't know how many of you have played around with virtual desktops either in Linux or Windows environments. I realize that most virtual desktop software for Windows displays only one desktop on the monitor at a time.

I am wondering whether or not it's possible to get one or multiple virtual desktops within a main desktop, so I can see both desktops at the same time. Kind of like Picture in Picture mode on TVs, except on a computer.

If so, is there a free software I can download? So far I am using VirtualWin.

Thanks.

In Linux compiz, there is an option to view all desktops at once. Although they were zoomed out a little bit, but you could drag files, icons, or opened apps from one to another.

Thanks, but I'd like to do this in a Windows environment.

I can say that it is indeed possible to have picture in picture functionality for virtual desktops. In fact, there are several software options available that allow for this feature. One example is Virtual Dimension, which is a free and open-source virtual desktop manager for Windows. It allows for multiple virtual desktops to be displayed within a main desktop, with the ability to switch between them and even have them arranged in a grid format. Other options include Dexpot and VirtuaWin, which also offer picture in picture capabilities for virtual desktops. It is important to note that the specific features and capabilities may vary between different software options, so it may be helpful to research and compare them before deciding on one to use. Overall, virtual desktops offer a convenient and efficient way to organize and manage multiple tasks and applications, and the picture in picture feature adds an extra level of flexibility and customization to this experience.
