In summary, the conversation discusses the importance of Elon Musk's new company Neuralink and the need for humans to merge with technology in order to avoid becoming obsolete in the face of AI. The concept of humans as a single organism, with each individual being a neuron, is also explored. The conversation also brings up the possibility of challenges to Musk's future patents by creators of popular media such as "Ghost in the Shell".

This is a long read, but totally worth it. It's about Elon Musk's new company Neuralink and why we need it. The latter is answered quite thoroughly. http://waitbutwhy.com/2017/04/neuralink.html

What amazed me was the perspective of humans as a whole, seen as a single organism, where a single human is a neuron. Separate neurons don't mean anything, it's the collective neurons that count.

tl;dr: We need to merge with computers to not become obsolete by AI.

You were right about it being a long read. At least it will be some time before we will be having to make the decision whether to 'assimilate into Borg'. :woot:

I wonder if the people who created "Ghost in the Shell" will challenge any of Elon's future (attempted) patents.
