Is the thread you want to start about a schoolwork question, or about a general technical question for work or personal curiosity?

If for schoolwork (even for self-study), please start a new thread in the Homework Help forums (pick the best subforum for the subject), and be sure to fill out the Template to give the Problem Statement, the Relevant Equations, and show your best attempt at the solution.

If it is a general technical question, start the new thread in the appropriate technical forum, and if applicable, label the thread title with the prefix A/I/B (Advanced graduate school, Intermediate undergrad, Basic high school level). It always helps if you post links to the reading you've been doing to try to answer your own question -- that shows us what you have found so far.

In each of the forums, to start a new thread there is usually a blank subject line near the top of the forum where you can type your thread title and then type the rest of the thread start below that.

Does that help?
