What caused the recent forum glitch and how can it be resolved?

In summary, the most likely cause of the recent forum glitch is a technical issue with the server or website hosting the forum, possibly due to a software update, server overload, or other technical errors. While a cyber attack is a possibility, it is not the most likely cause. The time it takes to resolve the glitch depends on the cause and severity of the issue. Forum users may not be able to directly help resolve the glitch, but they can report it to the administrators. To prevent future glitches, administrators can regularly update and maintain the forum's software and server, implement security measures, and have a plan in place for addressing technical issues.

Hi, I'm a new member. I'm a computer engineer by day, and by night a game developer working on a realistic space flight simulator.

Welcome to PF. Simulators used to be my specialty too. I love talking about them. Have you published papers on the topic yet?

Hehe, no, and its more a serious video game than a tool, so I'm ot likely to publish any papers :) I have learned a hell of a lot about building extremely large worlds only using 32bit floats tho. Maybe a youtube video on that some time

Do you mean this one?

https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/simple-gas-model.975455/
If so, it was automatically sequestered by the forum software for some reason. It was approved by one of the Mentor/Admins a few minutes ago. Sometimes the automatic software trips on stuff like word combinations or if a new member posts a link. I don't see either of those in your post, so who knows. It just happens sometimes.

Even when the thread is sequestered, you should still be able to see it. Were you able to see it, or did the software say it was removed?

I saw it directly after I posted, and when I looked again a while later it had disappeared. I couldn't find any msg explaining what had happened, so I assumed I must have made a mistake when posting, and did it again, but the same thing happened so I commented here. :/

The thread looks fine, so I have no idea why there might have been a glitch. There was an overall forum glitch for me a couple hours ago, but I don't know if there was one around the time you posted.

In any case, the good news is that your thread is fine and starting to get responses. BTW, if you have any other questions or issues about the forum, feel free to start a private conversation with me (click on my avatar and select "Start a conversation"), or click on the "Report" link in any post of yours to send a message/request to the Mentors.

Thanks very much, it's been a very friendly intro to your forum actually :)
