In summary, the Big Bang theory is a widely accepted scientific explanation for the origin of the universe. It states that the universe began as a singularity and has been expanding and cooling ever since. According to this theory, there was no time or space before the Big Bang and it is currently impossible to have concrete evidence or understanding of what existed before. While there are other theories proposed, the Big Bang is the most supported by scientific evidence. It cannot be proven beyond a doubt, but the overwhelming amount of evidence and support from the scientific community make it the most plausible explanation.

What do you guys think existed before the big bang? This question has stumped me for years. No doubt it will never be answered with certainty.

The theory is that space and time was created in an instance. I can not and never will be able to get my head around the notion that time and space didnt exist before that. somthing had to be there and time must have been passing.

FAQ: What Existed Before the Big Bang?

What is the Big Bang theory?

The Big Bang theory is a widely accepted scientific explanation for the origin of the universe. It states that the universe began as a singularity, a point of infinite density and temperature, and has been expanding and cooling ever since.

Was there anything before the Big Bang?

According to the Big Bang theory, there was no time or space before the Big Bang. The concept of "before" does not apply to the singularity that existed before the expansion of the universe.

How do scientists know what happened before the Big Bang?

Currently, scientists do not have a way to observe or study what happened before the Big Bang. The laws of physics, as we know them, break down at the singularity, making it impossible to have any concrete evidence or understanding of what existed before the Big Bang.

Is the Big Bang the only theory for the origin of the universe?

No, there are other theories that have been proposed to explain the origin of the universe, such as the Steady State theory and the Inflation theory. However, the Big Bang theory is currently the most widely accepted and supported by scientific evidence.

Can the Big Bang be proven?

The Big Bang theory is continuously being tested and refined through observations and experiments. While it cannot be proven beyond a doubt due to the limitations of our current technology and understanding, the overwhelming amount of evidence and support from the scientific community make it the most plausible explanation for the origin of the universe.
