In summary, Heliophysics is the study of the Sun and its effects on the solar system and beyond. It encompasses various disciplines such as solar physics, space weather, and planetary science, and involves understanding the complex interactions between the Sun, Earth, and other celestial bodies. A retired NASA project scientist shares that this field has significantly advanced our understanding of how the Sun influences our daily lives and has enabled us to develop technologies to protect our planet from the Sun's powerful radiation. Heliophysics also plays a crucial role in exploring the possibility of life on other planets and understanding the broader universe.

How did you find PF?
I was searching a topic (mainly automotive) that led to a discussion here.
Thanks all for this forum site, which is certainly of great interest to me as a lifelong physicist who has been a hobbyist, student, teacher, and practicing NASA project scientist in the area of Heliophysics, which is the study of the Sun and everything it influences within the heliosphere, including all the planets subject to direct observation by space probes.
