What is the range of this graph?

In summary, the range for this graph is [-2, 2]. This is the set of all y values of the function, which can be seen by looking at the graph and observing that y goes up to 2, down to -2, and takes on all values in between. It can also be defined as the interval [-2, 2], which includes all numbers larger than or equal to -2 and less than or equal to 2.

is this a trick question?
anyway I use Matlab mostly and from my experience I'd say x range is [-3, 3] and y range is [-2, 2]. At least that's what I would set in the graph window given your curve...

Rule 1: Know the definitions!

"range" MEANS the set of all y values of the function.

Looking at the graph I see that y goes up to 2, down to -2 and takes on all values between (the graph is a continuous line).

The range is the interval [-2,2] (i.e. all numbers larger than or equal to -2 and less than or equal to 2.)

FAQ: What is the range of this graph?

What is the range of this graph?

The range of a graph is the difference between the highest and lowest values on the vertical axis. In other words, it shows the spread or extent of the data on the y-axis.

How do you calculate the range of a graph?

To calculate the range of a graph, you need to determine the highest and lowest values on the vertical axis and then subtract the lowest value from the highest value. The resulting number is the range.

Why is the range important in a graph?

The range is important in a graph because it provides information on the spread of the data. It helps to visualize the range of values and understand the variability of the data.

Can the range be negative?

Yes, the range can be negative if the lowest value on the vertical axis is lower than the highest value. This means that the data has a negative spread or extent.

Is the range the same as the domain?

No, the range and domain are different. The range refers to the spread of the data on the y-axis, while the domain refers to the spread of the data on the x-axis. They both provide important information about the data in a graph.
