What is the Role of Continuum Mechanics in CFD Simulations?

In summary, continuum mechanics plays a crucial role in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations by providing the foundational principles and equations for accurately modeling fluid behavior. This includes the use of Navier-Stokes equations, boundary conditions, and numerical methods to solve complex fluid flow problems. Continuum mechanics also helps in understanding the physical phenomena involved in CFD simulations, such as turbulence and heat transfer. Overall, it is an essential tool in the development of accurate and reliable CFD simulations for various engineering applications.

I am a Phd student working in a technological center. My work is related to CFD simulations by using OpenFoam coupled to discrete element method.
I am very interested in mathematical and physical background of continuum mechanics both solid and fluids.
I am loking forward to solve my interests and help as much as possible.
