Dear Friends,
I have been eavesdropping for some time, observing with some interest the type of questions asked- some deep, some trivial. I have joined because I want to thank you - I learned something about Gauss's law in electrostatics that unlocked a problem I have mulling over for 60 years. I was concerned with the electric field associated with a symmetric snow crystal. I learned from the forum that the electric field at the surface had to be perpendicular to the surface. That led me to an understanding of how one sector of a snow crystal communicates with another. I will be happy to discuss this more with anyone interested.
