Well, your point there was wrong because you say "KUL is NOT a Belgian university because Begium did not exist back then.
That maybe what you think, or would like to think, or perhaps even project onto me as what I said. However if you just go up a bit and read what I said you will see that I didnt say that!
Just to remind you:
Anttech said:Belgium didnt even exist in the 1400 so its debatable whether the old Universities in Belgium are of Belgium origins.
Anttech said:Same goes for a University in Leuven, it could be argued that it is actually of Dutch Origins. That was my point
Quite a stark contrast, to what you said I said. That is your mistake :)
See aboveSo we wonder if this university has Belgian roots". Well since Belgium did not yet exist how can you wonder about the Belgium roots ?
Not a country a people. The Flems of modern and The Netherlands have common origin. The peoplke whom roamed in the lowlands were called netherlandish (low lands). This is the same error as saying that the KUL is a "Nederlandish" uni because you take a name that is assigned to a country we all know NOW but it was not the same "country" at the moment of origin
Living and working in Brussels for 2.5 years has given me 1st hand experience of Belgium. A Bastardised country of Wallonia and Flanders, two people with little in common, in the hell pit (first world war battle field) of Europe. Were the Taxes reach 55% of Income because the National debt is 96% of GDP Due to the Marshal plan, and other international Debts. A federal country be necessity and a Langauge Barrier larger than the Berlin Wall.Clearly you dont' know Belgium, but why does tha not surprise me ? LOL again.
But its not all bad, the people here are nice in general. But what I never understood is Belgium IS the fronter between the Northern and Southern European Cultures it should be a place of meeting, mixing. But it doesn't seem like that.
Anyway, don't take it as an insult, its just an observation from a Foreigner in Belgium ;)
