In summary, a transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy between circuits through electromagnetic induction. It works by using two or more coils of wire wrapped around a common iron core, creating a changing magnetic field that induces a current in the secondary winding. The purpose of a transformer is to adjust the voltage of an electrical current, which is necessary for transmitting electricity over long distances and for powering different types of devices. There are two types of transformers: step-up, which increases voltage, and step-down, which decreases voltage. The most common type is the power transformer, used to transfer electricity from power plants to homes and businesses, as well as in electronic devices to adapt voltage to specific needs.

Hi Guys!

well ! i have one question to you?

Why transformer is called a machine. It has got no rotor in it. Then what is the reason that we put transformer in the category of machines.

Thanks in advance!

Technicaly anything that converts energy from one form to another is a machine. It doesn't have to be electrical to mechanical. Resistance coils are a machine also in the strictest sense since they convert electricity to heat. A transformer converts one "flavor" of electricity to another.
Or so goes my humble opineo:)

Hello,

A transformer is considered a machine because it is a device that is designed to transfer energy from one electrical circuit to another through the process of electromagnetic induction. It may not have a moving rotor like other machines such as motors or generators, but it still serves a mechanical purpose in converting electrical energy. Additionally, transformers have various components and parts that work together to perform a specific function, which is another characteristic of a machine. Therefore, even though it may not fit the traditional definition of a machine, a transformer is still classified as one due to its function and design. I hope this helps clarify your question.

FAQ: What Transofomer Is Called A Machine?

What is a transformer?

A transformer is a device that is used to transfer electrical energy between two or more circuits through the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction.

How does a transformer work?

A transformer works by using two or more coils of wire, known as the primary and secondary windings, which are wrapped around a common iron core. When an alternating current is passed through the primary winding, it creates a constantly changing magnetic field which induces a current in the secondary winding. This current is then used to power electrical devices.

What is the purpose of a transformer?

The purpose of a transformer is to step up or step down the voltage of an electrical current. This is essential for transmitting electricity over long distances and for adapting the voltage to suit different types of electrical devices.

What is the difference between a step-up transformer and a step-down transformer?

A step-up transformer increases the voltage of an electrical current, while a step-down transformer decreases the voltage. This is achieved by having a different number of windings in the primary and secondary coils.

What is the most common type of transformer?

The most common type of transformer is the power transformer, which is used to transfer electricity from power plants to our homes and businesses. It is also commonly used in electronic devices to adapt the voltage to suit the specific needs of the device.
