In summary, the conversation revolved around the participants' current desktop backgrounds. Some shared photos they took themselves, while others used images of their favorite things or people. Some preferred plain backgrounds, while others used programs to modify their desktop environment. The conversation also touched on computer virus protection and the use of dual monitors. Some participants mentioned rotating through a collection of photos for their desktop background.

This is my current one. Is a rotation though. Every month one or 2 new are added.
I never use the icons on my desktop so I hide them always.

Mine has a funny story. Back when I played WoW, I had some sort of crush on a person, well, their mind anyways. I never met them, never really talked to them much. They were active on the forums and I thought they were hilarious and enjoyable. We'd derail a thread on occasion just to talk about people, IT, science, whatever. In an OT thread, they left my name, and this picture. I've used it ever since

I use rainmaker at home, to modify my desktop environment and I have dual monitors. I always have my task bar on the farthest right side of the right monitor. I don't like them at the bottom!
It's a Snowfox.

At home, my wallpaper is generally something anime related. Atm I believe it's Saber. I rotate through a pack of wallpapers for each show. Her pack has like 500 wallpapers in it.

Cheers

Hehehe. I few of mine were for sometime, but I have others using my computer now. I don't want to have too much incriminating evidence.

I like to be reminded of how insignificant I am.

and when I'm feeling optimistic.

WHY DON'T YOU USE LINUX PEOPLE?

Because Wine is Not an Emulator. Oh okay, WINE isn't too bad.

I duel-box scientific linux at home, and my old laptop (RIP) used Ubuntu.

WHY DON'T YOU USE LINUX PEOPLE?

Because linux is really not user friendly. I absolutely have no problems with windows. But with linux I've often spent dozens of hours to get the clock show up. It's not worth it.

It depends on the distro, honestly. Ubuntu and further, Mint, is excellent for the average user. I found Scientific Linux to be great, but it's stable at the cost of flash. There is a huge library of open source science and math apps as well, which is excellent.

It serves itself well to small home networks too. But it's not for everyone, of course.

It's become much easier to set up in the past few years.

Cheers

Mine cycles through images of and from Mars's surface. Those mostly taken by Spirit, Opportunity, HiRISE and the MRO.

Elephant on a bench has been replaced

Each wheel having it's own motor & is independently controlled, in addition "drag brake" can be adjusted. A remarkable car!

Unfortunately this thing of beauty gets covered up with a body, imo all it's missing is a tube frame, seats and steering wheel

sometimes its messier, sometimes tidier ... what can I say in my defence ...
Your Honor, I'm just an electronics tech ;)

Dave

PS my spell check didn't like Honor it wanted Honour but looking in google for how to address a judge there seems to be many listings for either spelling
I wonder if this is a thing the same as the difference between American English and British English for the word color/colour ?
