Which will have a higher temperature?

In summary, the equator will have a higher temperature compared to the North Pole because it receives more direct sunlight and has a lower latitude. A metal cup filled with hot water will have a higher temperature than a plastic cup due to its higher heat conductivity. Generally, a larger body of water will have a higher temperature than a smaller one as it has a higher heat capacity. A city will have a higher temperature than a rural area due to the urban heat island effect where concrete and asphalt retain heat. Dark-colored objects have a higher temperature compared to light-colored objects as they absorb more sunlight.

Wood and Copper are heated upto a steady state condition which will have a higher average of temperature at points ?
Please state your mathematical approach
1. Homework Statement

Dimensions remain same for both the materials as well as the temperatures both are heated to is the same

Homework Equations

This is one dimensional heat transfer mainly with a steady state condition

The Attempt at a Solution

I have tried using Thermal Flux Fourier law as well as the normal GEE but both turned out same

Turned out same as in the average of the temperature at points was equal

FAQ: Which will have a higher temperature?

Which will have a higher temperature: the equator or the North Pole?

The equator will have a higher temperature because it receives more direct sunlight and has a lower latitude compared to the North Pole.

Will a metal or a plastic cup have a higher temperature when filled with hot water?

A metal cup will have a higher temperature because it conducts heat more efficiently than plastic.

Does a larger body of water have a higher temperature than a smaller one?

Generally, yes. A larger body of water has a higher heat capacity and can retain heat for longer periods of time compared to a smaller body of water.

Which will have a higher temperature: a city or a rural area?

A city will have a higher temperature due to the urban heat island effect, where concrete and asphalt absorb and retain heat, making cities warmer than surrounding rural areas.

Do dark-colored objects have a higher temperature than light-colored objects?

Yes, dark-colored objects absorb more sunlight and heat compared to light-colored objects, which reflect more sunlight.
