One of my friends was trapped under a food-court table in a local mall during a Brinks truck robbery involving full-auto weapons fire, and there's been a rash of gang-related shootings here in the past few months. If I ever find myself in that sort of situation, I damned well want to be able to shoot back. Being an atheist, I value my own existence perhaps more than someone who believes in an afterlife.

In all of those situations you are an innocent bystander. The only practical result of shooting back is to put a giant "SHOOT ME TOO" sign on your chest.

The damned things reproduce like guppies. They're considered an intense pest around here, due to their ability to decimate crops. Also, a lot of horses get injured stepping in their burrows. There was a $.25 bounty on them for years. Their population density is over 100 per acre in a favourable season.

Hell no! I wouldn't mind getting a bit of rest for a change.
