Hi, when Word says it can't save my file because I have too much stuff on my harddrive, and that I know I have plenty of space on my harddrive, is it because my file is too big? Or because I have too many hyperlinks? The files are about 1 MB to 5 MB, and include many (internal) hyperlinks and equations, and jpegs etc.

I am sick of having to separate my files in smaller components. I just want work with huge files and save like usual.

I think I solved my problem. Not cluttering my desktop with huge files seems to helps a lot. As well as not "cut & paste"-ing cross-references.

It is possible that the size of your file is causing Word to have trouble saving it. Large files with many internal hyperlinks and equations can take up a lot of space and may exceed the storage capacity of your hard drive. It is also possible that the issue is with the specific formatting or content within your file that is causing it to exceed the storage limits.

One solution could be to try compressing the images within your file to reduce its overall size. You can also try saving the file in a different format, such as a PDF, which may be more efficient for large files. Additionally, consider updating your version of Word or checking for any available software updates, as these may include fixes for saving large files.

If these solutions do not work, it may be necessary to continue breaking up your files into smaller components. While this may be inconvenient, it can help ensure that your files are saved properly and can be easily accessed in the future. Alternatively, you may want to consider using a different program that is better suited for handling large files, such as a file compression software or a different word processing program.

Overall, it is important to keep in mind that there are limitations to the amount of data that can be stored and processed by your computer and software. It may be necessary to make adjustments or use different tools in order to effectively work with and save large files.
