In summary, Safe! But not very fun. Well, safe for the kids, anyway. If dad tries to push this thing before taking a closer look at it, he could ruin his back!

Actually not that bad of a sliding board. Could have been worse - much worse!

Strangely comforting.

Disturbingly not comforting!

Is that even safe? Oh, wait, they're not real kids. That's art, not playground equipment.

Slides at playgrounds should just be banned.

Seriously, they should be banned!

Especially when they melt and your local PTA only raises $3.67.

But, with a little imagination, even bad slides can be fun!

But not nearly as fun as alligators! Oh, wait, this is art, not playground equipment.

That playground is cloudy and gray 365 days a year - even when the rest of the city is in sunshine.

I really have no idea what this is.

But I'm definitely sure slides should be banned after watching this! What?! Shouldn't you walk around your slide and see what it looks like from all angles before opening it to the public?! From this particular angle, it just looks disturbing! (The entire thing is a dragon, believe it or not.)

Come on now; you know how litigious Yanks are. The politically correct term is "horizontally challenged carousel".

Sure beats watching Barney on TV all day long. Get the kids out for some exercise. OR not!

The plan started to go awry when one of the managers asked the question, "What's the maximum centrifugal force in a non-rotating frame of reference?"

After many days of argument, and a few modifications to the design, the final answer was, "It doesn't matter! The centrifugal force is equal in both frames of reference!"

Good playgrounds always have traffic signs warning drivers of playing children.

The only good playground equipment are the swings. Going for the famed 360...

FAQ: Worst Playgrounds Ever: Safety Not Guaranteed

What makes a playground considered "the worst"?

A playground can be considered "the worst" due to a variety of factors, such as outdated or damaged equipment, lack of safety measures, and overall poor maintenance. These factors can lead to potential hazards and accidents for children.

How can playground safety be guaranteed?

Playground safety can be guaranteed through proper installation and maintenance of equipment, regular safety inspections, and adherence to safety guidelines and standards set by organizations such as the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

What are some common safety issues found in "the worst" playgrounds?

Some common safety issues found in "the worst" playgrounds include sharp edges or protrusions on equipment, insufficient protective surfacing, lack of supervision, and inadequate spacing between equipment.

How can parents and caregivers ensure playground safety for their children?

Parents and caregivers can ensure playground safety for their children by actively supervising them, checking equipment for any hazards or damage, and teaching children about playground safety rules and proper use of equipment.

Are there any regulations or laws in place to prevent "the worst" playgrounds?

Yes, there are regulations and laws in place to prevent "the worst" playgrounds. The CPSC has mandatory safety standards for playground equipment, and many states and localities have their own regulations for playground safety. However, enforcement and compliance with these regulations may vary.
