In summary, the conversation discusses the potential for World War 3 to start in Syria amid the current pandemic and Turkey's actions in the region. It is suggested that the tragedy of Syria and the involvement of multiple parties make it a potential battleground for conflict. However, the likelihood of this happening is disputed, with some arguing that it is an exaggerated concern. It is also mentioned that Turkey's alliances with different countries could add complexity to the situation.

While everyone is busy with Covid 19, no one knows that WW3 may start anytime in Syria if Turkey can't shake off his way out against a self inflicted problem. A head to head confrontation against Russia & Syria. EU & NATO will be compelled to defend it. Turkey can also invoke Article 5 of their Mutual Defense Agreement if trapped.

That's a mutual defense agreement. No way to trigger it on basis of events outside of Turkey. So Russia & Syria will just carefully keep their distance and that's all for now.

WW3 could have started any time in the last 75 years. What makes Syria different?

The tragedy of Syria makes it an unregulated vacuum. It draws in the local gangs and becomes the common battleground of neighbours, and bullies who want to exercise their malevolence, testing expired explosives in weapons under battle conditions.

Turkey has taken advantage of the Syrian vacuum to continue it's long confrontation with the Kurds in the border region. The Russians are careful and so will not enter Turkish territory.

It is a truism that; “If we could have avoided the first world war we would never have had another one”.

To make things more interesting, Turkey is already forging closer ties with Russia to the dismay of the US.

Exactly. No one know it because it's not true. You're being overly alarmist.

Is that like "If your parents didn't have any children, you probably won't either?"

FAQ: WW3 in Syria: Turkey Caught in Self-Inflicted Problem

What is the current situation in Syria and how does Turkey fit into it?

The civil war in Syria has been ongoing since 2011, with multiple factions fighting for control of the country. In 2019, Turkey became involved by launching a military offensive against Kurdish forces in northern Syria, causing further conflict and displacement of civilians.

How did Turkey become involved in the Syrian conflict?

Turkey has historically had a complicated relationship with Syria, but their involvement in the current conflict can be traced back to their support of rebel groups fighting against President Assad's regime. They have also been hosting millions of Syrian refugees, putting a strain on their resources and creating a desire for a safe zone within Syria's borders.

Why is Turkey's involvement in Syria considered a self-inflicted problem?

Turkey's decision to launch a military offensive in Syria has been criticized by many as a rash and unnecessary move. It has strained their relationships with other countries, including the United States, and has caused further turmoil and displacement in an already war-torn region. Additionally, Turkey's actions have been seen as an attempt to distract from domestic issues and strengthen their own position within the conflict.

Could this lead to a third world war?

At this time, it is unlikely that the conflict in Syria will escalate to a global scale. However, the involvement of multiple countries and the potential for further escalation is a cause for concern. It is important for all parties involved to prioritize diplomacy and finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

What can be done to address the situation in Syria and Turkey's involvement?

The international community has a responsibility to work towards a peaceful resolution in Syria and to address the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict. This includes providing aid to refugees and working towards a diplomatic solution. Turkey should also be held accountable for their actions and encouraged to seek a peaceful resolution rather than further military intervention.
