So if you have a block sitting on top of a frictionless slide(it's a ramp, so it goes down like a slide, levels out at the bottom at point A, then curves back up and ends at point B.)the height at the top of the slide is 3.91m, and the mass of the block is 1.62kg, the angle at point B is 45...
i understand the basic lim x->0 (sinx/x) = 1 thimg, but if its something more advanced I am clueless, such as:
lim 3x^2/(1-cosx) where x->0
how would you solve this one, or something like lim sin(cosx)/cosx where x-> pi/2?
thanks for any help
My Nuclear Physics class this semester is using the textbook my professor wrote. It is out of print, and with good reason. Can anyone recommend a suitable undergraduate Nuclear Physics textbook which covers most of the basics at a reasonably advanced level? Looking at the usenet booklist Krane...
I'm a junior in an honors trigonometry class, and am also studying some more advanced physics on my own. So I've decided to try to solve the problem accounting for the speed of light. here is the problem.

Hi All,
From electromagnetic theories, with the Lorentz gauge condition for the magnetic vector potential, I get the following wave equation:
1/csquared * d2A/dt2 + del2 A= u0 j.
in some literatures, they ignored the d2A/dt2 term and I don't know why they can do that...
More advanced FBD problems--need some tips!
Okay, just got assigned 3 more FBD-based problems with which I not only have to do the normal calculations, but also use various computer programs of choice for additional calculations, plots, etc.
As such, these are a bit more advanced than the FBD...
This thread is here to organize the many tutorials we have for Advanced Physics, which we take to be any and all Physics Courses after the typical calculus based General Physics sequence.
This thread will grow as the number of tutorials grows.
Some institutions regard the two as the same and some do not. I'm curious to know what exactly the difference are between the two are.
I speak of the second/third year advanced calculus and introduction to analysis course.
Some instutions use less rigorous texts and some use Rudin.

I pulled this up recently while Googling "math forums":

During many time i have searched a complete and rigorous derivation of Newtonian limit from GR but i found none. I suspect that it does not exist!
I do not refer to that "supposed derivation" that appears in many textbooks of GR. I refer to a rigorous and unambigous derivation of Newtonian...
Does anyone have any useful websites for 2D geometry that discuss some more advanced concepts for a person interested in more of the "backbone" of geometry?
For example, instead of what the usual high school geometry course covers, some more in-depth knowledge of geometry would be great!
anybody can recommend a good introducotry book on "advanced and retarded Green's function" and its application to QM, particularly transport problems. Thanks.
[I invite people to post links as responses in case the idea I'm putting forward
is already covered someplace that I missed.]
Something has been bothering me about this type of experiment for
a long time, but this is clearly the place to bring it up.
My problem is this: that in an...
Hi.
I was wondering... this course seems pretty rigorous and tough. Was this course proven extremely difficult when you guys took it?
I'm planning to take it during Summer quarter, but need some feedback on how hard this course will be.
Thanks in advance.
does anyone know of a company/website that sells advanced math and physics lectures on dvd? i need something above calculus 2 for the math, and something at the undergraduate level for physics. thx
Just out of curiosity, does anybody know the more advanced version of the following Cellular Respiration formula? Thanks.

A small block of mass (m) slides down a frictionless loop-the-loop track. The radius at the bottom of the track is R. The question is at what height above the bottom of the loop should the block be released so that it is on the verge of losing contact with the track at the top of the loop...
I was assigned to do a Lab report on an experiment we did in class.. this is for advanced physics honors..
I want to know if there's anything I should have that I don't .. or if something doesn't sound right?? Also .. could someone help with writing the Abstract??
THANKYOU!

Hi, I'm actually wondering which ap preparation books i should purchase. I was thinking of either the kaplan or princeton review, but if there are others recommended i would greatly appreciate it. As well, please include an explanation for your suggestion. thanx.
Hi, I am planning to purchase one of the advanced placement preparation books. Are there any suggestions? I had in mind of the princeton review or kaplan... If anyone knows which one is better can you provide an explanation as well.. thanks i appreciate it.
Hello,
I am a high school student looking to study further into advanced algebra over the summer. What books / outlines / study-guides do you recommend? I would like to bolster my algebraic skills for future success in higher mathematics.
Thanks
Hello and thanks in advance for anyone who can help at all. I have two problems that have stumped me.. I'm in an advanced ODE class. Here they are:
1) Consider the first order ODE f_a(x) where a is a parameter; let f_a(x0) = 0
for some solution x0 and also let f'_a(x0) != 0. Prove that...

Hello friends, I'm new to this forum, and I joined today to ask the fellow math students (AND OF COURSE THE TEACHERS, IF THERE ARE ANY  )about a book called, Advanced Algebra, it is by Scott, Foresman. I'm looking for this book for the math class at my school, because to be frank, we are...
Hello
I want to buy a somewhat advanced calculus textbook to independently study from. The text doesn't need to be too pure and rigorous, but it should be more so than an engineering math text would be because I want to eventually get into theoretical physics, and I don't want to find out...
does anyone know any"good" websites where i can find and solve problems for advanced calculus...such as Fourier series, linear algebra, absract algebra, differential geometry, finite element analysis and complex variables, etc?
