I was wondering what different method's there are for compensating for large temperature swings in a fluxgate magnetometer and obtain a consistent and repeatable value. I’m trying to obtain this without using a temperature sensor; I would like to use analog or digital components to do this.
I'm always amazed by studies involving super bacteria. I'd love to hear about all the research you have come across involving bacteria.
Here is a recent one I just found:

I would consider myself a very good candidate, but I'm pretty biased. I won't run down everything, but I feel like I am on the very high end of all the things they look for in an applicant.
My trouble is in figuring out where to apply, and how many...
I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my system. unfortunately I misplaced the box of CDs with most of my applications. I still have the hard drive where all the apps are installed. is it possible to extract the entire application from the old HD and install it on the new one? I have...
It's hard to convince people that they should hear and/or learn about the 4th dimension, string theory, and all of the like without giving them real world examples as to why these are all important.
I've been trying to find a way to incorporate the 4th dimension in particular into a short...
Hi all. I'm studying from Leon's Linear Algebra with Applications. I'm wondering if one of his examples has an error.
In Application 2, he's talking about searching databases. He says we should imagine a database of m documents and n possible search words. Then he says that this can be put...
I was just wondering what are some applications of prime numbers other than cryptography?

Hey everybody,
Im planning on applying to Nuclear Engineering PhD programs next year and I was wondering if it is reasonable to ask my recommendation-writers to send the letters to 5 different schools? Do most people just apply to one grad school? Seeing as they all require three letters of...
Hello Everyone,
I'm brand new to the forum as a poster, although I have been quietly reading the very interesting discussions going on here for a while! I'm hoping to slowly emerge from the shadows and start posting myself. Whilst I am by no means an expert in Physics, I do love the subject...

Hi All,
I have a very basic question on integrating two applications of different technologies. Let's take a web and a mainframe application, and we all know this could be integrated through 'web services'.
But is it possible to integrate these two applications without using webservices...
While reading organic chemistry, the textbook said that resonance is something which is found everywhere in chemistry. It applies everywhere in chemistry and so on. However so far the only application I've found of resonance is that the more resonance structures a certain molecule has, the more...
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum.
I have done a bit of reading on functional analysis lately. So I was wondering whether Functional Analysis can be related to physics in any way and what are the applications of that in physics?

So I'm starting to learn how to program and I just learned how these operators work (difference between pre and post, etc.).
However, I have a question, what real application can these operators have in actual software development?

Hey everyone,
I'm currently taking a mathematics course in set theory at my university as a general elective. I was wondering does set theory have any practical applications in engineering?

Hey everybody,
I have to give a talk in our seminar on invariant theory of Lie Groups. And I'm now looking for
easy applications of invariant theory to quantum physics. I want to present them to
motivate the discussion.
I would be lucky if someone of you has an idea where I can found...
So my high school has 2 math courses functions and functions and applications. What's the difference and which is better off for me to take. I want to take calculus in grade 12 and it has a requirement of functions. Will functions and applications count for this.

I am reading Etgen's Calculus: One and Several Variables section on Green's theorem. I was wondering if there is any direct application of this concept to physics or is it only used to calculate areas?
I want buy a book to learn RF circuit design(I have got a project to do next year and I wanted to start preliminary preparation now). Could anyone help me to figure out which one is better of the two - Engineering Electromagnetics by Hayt or Electromagnetics with Applications by Kraus.

Hello! I've been tackling the question 'Express sin3x+sinx as a product and hence solve 1/2(sin3x+sinx)=sin2x ; x∈R' but I'm stumped - I'm not sure whether I've even approached it correctly. This is what I did:
sin(3x+x)=sin3x.cosx+sinx.cos3x

I read in my metric spaces book that a separable space is that which has a countable, dense subset. This definition has no intuitive meaning to me. I'm able to show if a space is dense or not, and I think I can show a space is countable. But, I'm missing the "so what?!"

Consider a top spinning. From experience we know that it's harder to tip over if it's spinning. I believe that is due to precession but I'm not sure why. I can see when I draw torque and angular momentum vectors, that the angular momentum vector just gets "shifted" a little to the right (or...

I was given an assignment in my Fluid Mechanics Module with the title:
Application of the Navier-Stokes Equations in Tribology Applications
Yet the lecture has given no starting point and we haven't yet done anything to do with Navier-Stokes
Can anyone help me on where to start?
Are there any applications at all so far depending on the so-called Copenhagen interpretation?
By this I mean superposition of states that could be used in "quantum computers", quantum entanglement or "one-photon encryption". Or are there any applications coming up in the near future on any...
