Does anybody know of any good and easy to understand books over theoritical fields in physics (i.e. quantum phyiscs, particle physics, general realitivity, etc.)? I'm really interested into reading in on those topics right now, so I would apperciate your help.

Hello all,
I was wondering if any of you knew of a really good entry level robotics kit and where I could get one. My budget is probably around $1,000.
I'm looking for a kit that has all the essential components, a computer interface, customizable programming etc.
I don't know much...
Dear all,
I hope this is the right forum for such a question. Could you please give some references on book on linear algebra for absolute beginners (student with not a lot of math background).
Thanks.

This is a pitifully simplistic interrogatory, but here goes.
Is this roughly how an AC circuit works?:
An AC generator supplies an electron flow to start the circuit. These electrons then flow down a single wire to say a household fusebox/breaker. From there they flow to a wall plug and then...

I would appreciate some guidance. I don't get very far in reading peer-reviewed papers before I'm really confused --- they're way beyond my level. Even some posts on this forum are a little beyond me. And "popular" books can be misleading or just plain wrong ---and there are LOTS of...

Hi,
As it stands, I am borderline clueless when it comes to mathematics. I had bad teachers in school and so was pretty much doomed from the offset.
Anyway, I have recently developed an interest in learning more and improving my abilities but am having a thoroughly frustrating problem that...
This is one of my favorite boards on PF, but it doesn't have a lot of posts, and I do not know enough about history & historical humanities to ask questions or make many posts. Are there any quality forums that I might like?

So I was learning about cellular respiration and all that jazz, and when we got to the electron transport system, I didn't get a very great explanation on how ATP Synthase works. I know the basics of what it does, but I guess I'd like to understand it more... If anyone could explain it for me...
Hello,
I have a few questions for astronomers.

Can someone explain this to me simply. I just plain do not get Fourier Series.
I've got a question that says:
show that
f(x)=exp(-cx) for 0<x<pi
=exp(cx) for -pi<x<0
can be written as a cosine series that's way too complicated for me to work out how to write here.
I have no idea...
If for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, then how come net forces exist?
Surely when a force is exerted on an object, an equal force must push back (reaction) in the opposite direction, therefore balancing the forces, creating no net force and thus no acceleration?
How do...
